If it’s on my plate!
Hi there readers! It has been too long between blogs! I will get better! I have had an interesting experience with watching my youngest son work through a situation. He is a sargeant with the National Guard currently serving in Kuwait. He was recently nominated for the Audie Murphy award, but here is the problem. My son doesn’t necessarily think of himself as a gung-ho soldier and would be through with his hitch in the Guard had he not been called into active duty 11 days before his 6 years were over! He obviously must do a good job or the leaders wouldn’t have nominated him. In his heart, however, he didn’t think he qualified and so he was battling whether he should continue the process which involves lots of study. As he worked through this, he came to this conclusion. He has always believed he is in Kuwait by divine appointment from God-that, for reasons of spiritual growth and reasons currently known only to God, he has been sent there. So, as he thought this through, he came to the place where he realized this nomination was put “on his plate”. He didn’t ask for it, he doesn’t necessarily want it and yet it is on his plate! So, if it is on his plate, it must be for his good and from the One who has him in Kuwait. When he came to that realization, he determined that since his desire is to do all to the glory of God, he would do this for His glory too!!
How about you? What has been put on your plate? How are you dealing with it? If we believe nothing is by coincidence, then God had something to do with what is on your plate! You and I get to choose our responses! I have mentioned our dear friend, Jim, with brain cancer. This is on his plate-he didn’t ask for it, he didn’t want it, but he is responding to it in a way that gives God glory! What’s on your plate? Whatever it is, God had a Hand in it and He is wanting you to respond in a way that gives Him honor. Trust Him with it and watch what happens!! God bless each of you!
